if you’re NYC big law or bust it is probably your best best outside of T14, but you might want to consider some peer schools because of scholarship concerns (if for nothing else to be able to negotiate)
Personally, I’d say BC/BU/GW. All would give you decent chance at NYC biglaw, and I’d say all three are likely to throw around 60k at you, if not more. All three are much better investments with sizeable scholarships than Fordham at sticker. The only exception would be if it was NYC biglaw or bust for you, then I wouldn’t recommend anywhere but a t-14 (and wouldn’t suggest Fordham at sticker at all)
If you want NYC biglaw, Cornell places much better than Fordham. Georgetown also doesn’t have bad NYC placement. If Fordham gives you enough aid though, it might be worth it.
By “Biglaw or bust” you mean that you really, really want Biglaw right, not that you would drop out of school or want to /kill-self if you struck out at OCI? Because then I would recommend not going even if you get into a T-14.
Texas and UCLA do not place well in NYC. Like I said, Cornell places extremely well in NYC biglaw. If money/location is not a consideration, I would take Cornell over Fordham any day.
No shit, might as well mention that you’d take Yale over Fordham. Point is, Texas, UCLA, Vandy are almost as good for NYC biglaw (notice I didn’t say AS good) and would be worth taking over F if cheaper.
I want to disagree with Helmholtz, just because he seems perpetually rational, but this is it. Don’t pay 200k to go to a school that won’t guarantee you what you want.
